The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is a service organization with individual chapters dedicated to helping our local, state, and national communities and honoring our ancestors. We do this through historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. Members of the Fort Harrison Chapter, NSDAR, perform an average of over 600 hours of community service a year! Below are just some of the amazing service projects and activities we have been involved with or are actively working on. Learn more about becoming a member by contacting us.

Historic Preservation
Historic preservation projects focus on conservation and genealogical issues. Chapter activity has included making donations to support historical sites such as the Historic Allen Chapel, the CANDLES Holocaust Museum, and the Vigo County Historical Museum and placing historic markers.

Education
Education projects focus on our youth and include scholarships, DAR Good Citizens awards, Constitution Week programs, and awards for local kindergarten through 12th-grade students and teachers in American History.

Patriotism
Patriotism projects focus on veterans as well as active members of the military. Chapter activity includes donations of items to local veterans’ programs, awarding of ROTC and JROTC medals, and support of Veteran’s Memorial Plaza.

Community
DAR members are also active members of the community serving on committees, volunteering for local nonprofit organizations and faith communities, and acting as mentors.
